- How does it work?
- The project always starts off with a needs analysis session with the client to
determine the project requirements and scope of work. Here is a typical workflow for a full-fledged video production
: Needs Analysis, Quotation, Confirmation, Pre-Production, Script Research and
Development, Script and Storyboard Approval, Production, Voice Over Recording
(if required), Music & Sound F/X Selection, Rough Cut, 1st Cut, Review, Final
Cut, Color Correction, Audio-Mix, Mastering, Final Output for Delivery.
- What do I need to provide?
- Video production is a collaborative process.
The final video will be very much a result of close collaboration between the
client and the production company. You have to know your communication
objectives and who your audience is, what message or information you want
to deliver and what end results you want to produce?
The core information and content creation materials will have to come from
you. You may provide anything from an outline to a draft script of your story.
Depending on your requirements, our professional script writer, working
closely with the film director, can provide varying levels of assistance to help
you research, develop and write the final script. As in other projects,
feedback and approvals are required from you at different stages of the
production until final delivery.
- How much does it cost?
- It is difficult to provide an accurate budget estimate without knowing the
specific requirements of the video project. There are just too many variables in both production and post-production. Financial proposal is
usually given after a needs analysis process which we go through together with
the client at the proposal stage. Requirements may include but are not limited
to scripting, crew, equipment hire, transportation, locations, studio rental,
talents, make-up artist, wardrobe, props, production day expenses, voice over
talent, sound recording, music scoring and post production. For post production,
it may mean from simple editing to more complex requirements like motion
graphics, visual effects and 3D animation. The complexity of these requirements
will impact the cost on both resources and time. Though high production value
and more complex videos could cost tens of thousands but it is possible to
produce a simple short company profile for as low as a couple of thousand ringgit. Request for a project proposal here.
- Can a video be produced with existing materials
provided by me without involving video shooting?
- Yes, these days, many video are produced in the post without involving any
filming. Content creation materials could come from client’s photos or video
clips etc.. Client’s media assets can be repurposed and combined with custom
designed and produced illustrations, motion graphics, visual effects and 3D
animations to create a video with great impact.
- How long does it take?
- This depends again on the requirements of the video. On Average 4 to 8 weeks for
a full-fledge video but we have produced videos within a few days.
- What are these video resolutions and formats all about?
- The number of video formats out
there are confusing, to say the least. Especially when you can now shoot video
with your mobile phone, not to mention the vast array of codecs available for
PCs to create videos. However, in the professional realm where quality takes
precedence, as far as video definition is concerned, we have standard definition
and high definition. For PAL system, the former has a frame size of 720 x 576
pixels, the latter 1920 x 1080 (full HD). The acquisition format can be DVCAM,
HDV or HD. DVCAM is standard definition or TV broadcast quality. HDV
resolution is 1440 x 1080 and HD is 1920 x 1080, but both are normally
converted to standard definition in the post. They then take on a wide-screen
16x9 aspect ratio that has black spaces at the top and bottom (letter-box) if
viewed with a standard TV. In view of the high cost involved in HD post
production, the standard definition or broadcast quality is normally the final
delivery format and it comes in the form of a DVD or movie file. Upon request,
we can provide other compressed formats for website or computer use. These could
be in quicktime, avi, wmv, flv or dviX formats.
- Can you help us to upload our video to YouTube?
- Yes, we can. Any business can now have their own free broadcast channel on
YouTube. We can assist you in setting up your own channel.
